For our final Open Day at Hangar, we wanted to share a collection of forty color-coded photographs. With no dedicated exhibition space available, we decided to transform the limitations into an opportunity—creating a leporello in collaboration with XYZ Books (also known as concertina or accordion fold).

This artist book unfolds in a zig-zag pattern, offering a long, continuous visual journey—mirroring our walk through Lisbon, where the images originated. In the Victorian era, this format was often used for travel souvenirs, showcasing panoramic views of distant landscapes. Our version reflects on this idea, treating landscape not just as scenery but as a process—one through which identities, memories, and movements are shaped.

Presented as both book and sculpture, the leporello becomes a line that subtly divides and reconfigures the space around it. It invites viewers to engage physically—walking, leaning, unfolding—mirroring the way we first encountered and mapped the city. In this way, the work resists passivity; to see it, one must move with it.

The installation becomes a performative act of looking and unfolding. It echoes the rhythm of a city map, and the process through which our research was made material. Each fold reveals part of the story—allowing the geometric figure of the line to emerge, step by step, image by image.

An artist book, a sculptural object, a spatial score—unfolding between memory and movement.
