Nabuurs&VanDoorn were invited by curator Marcus Kuiland-Nazario into its reactivation with their performance S.I.N. (part of Backdoor Rebel Routes (for Bad Girls) at 18th Street Arts Center)

Van Doorn enters the visual echo of lost dreams with a small container labeled “sin”, inside is collected beach sand. He holds it in front of his right eye and recites:

“This sand was touched by the stars.”
…
“This sand was collected where the last photographs of Marilyn Monroe were taken.”
…
He kneels down and pours the sand to draw a straight line.

Nabuurs enters the scene and erases the line with her foot, and recites;
…
“Marilyn Monroe is dead.”
…
She then walks away to turn on the lights and flattens the fiction.

Van Doorn remains kneeled, gathering the scattered sand back into the container. The action repeats beyond function. After some time he gets up, and recites;
…
“This sand is touched by the stars.”

The statement returns without resolution. What remains is a system: made, undone, and continuing.
